Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) is preparing for next version of its wireless standard. Its release will take place on June 16, 2016. Among main changes in new specification, there are doubled radius of action and fourfold increase in data transfer rate in energy-efficient connections.
As noticed by Mark Powell (CEO of Bluetooth SIG), capabilities of positioning services using Bluetooth beacon for representing useful information and delivery of content depending on user’s location will be also expanded in Bluetooth 5. Details will become known in a few days.
