With the smartphone market evolving at the rate of knots, we, as Users, are being conferred some of the most amazing technologies, right in our hands. In an era where Desktop-class performance is sought to be inculcated on the smartphones that come loaded with some incredible processors, cameras and displays from various manufacturers, what we are now starting to see in this ever-so-competitive smartphone market is the addition of various stand-out features that try and take the game away from the competition. Such has been the case with Apple wherein with the launch of the updated ‘S’ moniker models viz iPhone 6S and 6S Plus, Apple has once again laid more focus on the real-world performance by tweaking the internals and keeping the look and feel more so the same(except for the new Rose Gold option). Saying of the internals, we saw a new Processor, a new improved Touch-ID, a new Camera setup and other various small tweaks making debut, but what came as a breakthrough feature was the unveiling of the 3D Touch setup that enabled force touch mechanism on the display panel, adding a dimension of tracking the pressure sensitivity in order to distinguish between a light tap and a hard tap, thus enhancing the interactive capabilities.
What this means is the evolution of iOS in a way that would help your iPhone distinguish between and act according to the sensitivity/pressure of touch. For instance, you can hold down the touch on the Camera app and you would then be offered to jump directly into various option such as take Pictures or Selfies, record Videos or Slo-mo. But then, all of this comes with a restricted access to only the new iPhone models viz the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus. Thus, for all those who want to get the 3D Touch support on any iPhone model and be a part of this evolution of iOS, a Cydia tweak named Forcy has made it to the fore, reassuring to bring generic 3D touch support to older iPhone models as well. In order to proceed with the same, following is a step-by-step tutorial on how to get iPhone 6S-like 3D Touch Support On Any iPhone. Take a look!
How To Get iPhone 6S-like 3D Touch Support On Any iPhone
Step 1 : First and foremost, in order to access Cydia store, you would need a Jailbroken iPhone at your hands. To do the same, follow this step-by-step tutorial by clicking here.
Step 2 : Once you have successfully Jailbroken your iPhone, open up Cydia, search for Forcy and install the same. Forcy is currently available for free under Cydia’s BigBoss repo.
Step 3 : Respring/reboot and you would now be able to access 3D Touch Quick Actions menu, as that on iPhone 6s and 6s Plus.
But there’s a catch! As there ain’t any hardware installed on the older iPhone models to provide generic support for 3D Touch, you would need to tap on the icon of any of the 3D touch supported apps and swipe upwards to bring up the 3D Touch Quick Actions menu. Forcy impresses by bringing the exact same look of the 3D Touch Quick Actions menus on older iPhone models but sadly, it doesn’t come with the ‘Peek and Pop’ gesture support, atleast as of now.
Update x1: Another Cydia tweak named revealMenu has popped out with the same functionality as that on Forcy. The only difference being that rather than having to swipe up to bring the 3D Touch Quick Menus, you would have to long press to initiate the same functionality on revealMenu. In order to install the same, open up Cydia, add apt.imokhles.com repository to your list of Cydia sources, search for revealMenu and install the same.
