What makes up a strong core upon which iOS today stands authoritatively to be the best mobile operating system is the bunch of nifty fundamental stock apps that Apple offers. Be it the default Camera app, Photos or Safari, Apple brings its ‘A’ game to the fore with all of these apps offering straightforward and intuitive user experience bundled with the most gentle learning curve to even those who are new to the system. While all of these home-grown apps are set as default apps by default for the respective functions they perform, the colossal App store is not short on alternatives if one wishes to try their hands on third-party app experience.
One such instance would be the availability of plethora of Web browsers. With no cost attached to download and the Google’s tag prefixed to its name, Chrome on iPhone or iPad is surely the undisputed king of web browsers, the second best to Apple’s default Safari app, atleast on iOS. What makes Chrome such a popular alternative on iOS devices is the added galore of feature it brings along such as Data saving, faster browsing experience and option for Voice search. With recent update to the Chrome app, Google has also bundled in various swipe gestures that intends to make Chrome on iPhone or iPad even more free-flowing and user friendly. But all those who are not that familiar with all of this, we hereby bring to you all the available gestures that the new Chrome app comes loaded with the following tutorial. Take a look!
How To Navigate Chrome on iPhone or iPad using Swipe Gestures
1. Refresh Tab
Simple as it gets, in order to refresh any webpage that you are currently browsing through, simply swipe down and you would see a taskbar at the top containing 3 buttons viz. New Tab, Refresh & Close Tab. Swipe down straight until the taskbar comes in with the center Refresh button highlighted to blue and thereafter release it to refresh the page.
2. Open New Tab
In order to throw open a new tab in Chrome on iPhone or iPad, swipe down on the current tab you are using and hold on. Make sure that after you hold your finger, swipe to the left as you would see the blue highlighted circle switching from Refresh to New Tab option and release thereafter to open up a new tab.
3. Close Tab
Similar to the New Tab option, swipe down on the current tab you are in and hold on your finger and thereafter swipe to the right to see the blue highlighted circle jump from Refresh to Close Tab option and release thereafter to close the current tab.
4. Go Forward or Back
If you wish to navigate between pages that you are browsing on Chrome, you can simply choose to drag from the extreme left of the screen to right in order to go Back to the previous page. Similarly, in order to scroll forward to the next page you may have just came back from, swipe from extreme right to left on your current tab and you’ll be taken to the next page.
5. Switch between Tabs
In order to quickly switch between tabs, Chrome on iPhone or iPad offers an option to swipe left or right from the URL bar at the top so as to scroll through the live tabs. If this feature doesn’t promote one handed use that Apple has long boasted and later given up on, you can choose to use the gimmicky double-tap home button gesture to bring down your homescreen on iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus in order to make the navigation more one-hand-usage friendly.
